Our Tanner Cook will be traveling to California next week with his father Larry to do some serious training: He will be on the West Coast from 7/25 through 7/31, doing double sessions of lifting under the tutelage of none other than “Coach B” (Mike Burgener) at Mike’s Gym in Bonsall. They will also spend some training time with former NFL player John Welbourn (creator/operator of CrossFit Football and co-owner of CrossFit Balboa / SoCal Strength & Conditioning) in Newport Beach, not to mention some training with Josh Everett in San Diego (Josh finished 3rd in 2007 and 2nd in 2008 at the CrossFit Games). Tanner is prepping for the 2010 Connecticut Open Weightlifting Championships being held on August 1st at Blue Streak Sports Training in Stamford. Tanner, who weighs in at 150 lbs, has a Clean & Jerk of 185#, a Snatch of 135# and a Back Squat of 290#! He puts up adult numbers and is only going into his junior year — of high school! Remember this name if you follow CrossFit, as you will see more and more of it in the future.
