On Ramp Skills Session: 3 mandatory skills session for new CrossFitters, where the nine fundamental exercises of CrossFit are demonstrated, coached, and evaluated, followed by a workout designed to implement the new skills to help reinforce the learning process. These sessions need to be scheduled in advance and will take approximately one hour each.
* CrossFit Chaos: A beginner friendly class that will still challenge veteran CrossFitters! This offers a short, varied series of CrossFit exercises between several rounds on the Concept-2 Rower. Following a brief warm up, a coach will have the group perform individual exercises throughout the app 30 minute session, which may include body weighted exercises (push ups, air squats, etc.), along with weighted exercises (kettlebells, medicine balls, dumbbells, etc.) — always varied, always different, always fun. Each athlete works out at his/her own level and pace. We provide the structure, you bring the intensity!
** Guts Poker: A 21 minute mash up of CrossFit exercises, and this is how it works: everyone puts up one dollar. After everyone is in, then everyone will be dealt a playing card face down. When the timer starts, everyone flips their card and does whatever exercise is displayed on their card. The value of each card determines the difficulty of the exercise, i.e. Ace of Spades is 30 Sandbag Squats, an Eight of Spades is 15 Knees to Elbows, while a Two of Spades is 10 AbMat sit-ups. Once an exercise is completed, one returns to the Dealer’s table and gets their next card, and so on for 21 minutes.
Guts Poker Rules:
If you think you cannot perform the exercise on the card, or you fail to complete the exercise on the card, then you may request another card after completing a 10 Burpee penalty.
We use four decks. If you happen to draw the same exact card twice, then you can use the second card as a Wild Card (but you may only play one wild card per hand). You must return to the Dealer’s table to receive your next card.
If time expires before you complete your assigned exercise, you do not get to play that card.
At the end of 21 minutes, you play your best five cards like a poker hand. Best hand wins the pot, plus a your choice of a Paleo bar or a can of Coconut Water.
