“Second Act: Lisa Fisco”

This was a video that we came across randomly in Yahoo’s “Vitality: Second Act” section which focuses on individuals who have made a significant life change, typically later in life. We loved this clip. It should be mandatory viewing for anyone who dismisses CF as too hard core. We wanted to work in this link to inspire members and prospects. Check it out …

“Mat Lalonde discusses The Paleo Diet”

In October of 2009, I drove to CrossFit Albany to attend the CrossFit Nutrition certification, and Matt was the presenter. After that, I switched from the Zone diet to the Paleo diet, and I have been very satisfied with the results. Sarcasm aside, if you are doing the workouts off the web, the quality of your movement probably is not what it could be. A certified trainer will make sure that you are at least hitting the proper Range of Motion. ROM suffers, right along with you, under duress. [Read More] …

“CrossFit Chicks Are Hot.”

CrossFit girls are beautiful—but Louis Hayes believes it’s more about attitude and determination than appearance. CrossFit chicks are hot. Ever hear that saying? Well, it’s true. And here’s why: Being “hot” has a lot more to it than physical appearance. Plenty of women and girls have all the physical components and gifts of the cover girl but simply “aren’t hot.” And then there are those magnetic ones who might never be a runway model but are irresistible. 100 Days of CrossFit and the Zone Diet

This YouTube video illutrates what exercise — specifically CrossFit, and nutrition — specifically The Zone, can do in a relatively short period of time. This guy took a running series of still photos over a one hundred day period while starting CrossFit and following The Zone diet, and showed very impressive results. If he can do it, why can’t you?

Benefit of Foam Rollers

We expect to have a delivery of foam rollers soon, so you may wish to read this article on the benefits of pre-workout foam rolling. We will program several minutes into each warm up, to both speed recovery and prepare our muscles for the WOD. Foam rollers can be implemented into your training. Three basic uses for foam rollers are warm-ups, therapy and prehab/rehab.
