“Better TV” was here today shooting a story about CrossFit and took footage of the afternoon “Chaos” class. Those who did not chicken out (or were just unaware that today was the day of the filming) were Mike H, Julia N, Frank G and Matt G. Yours truly sputtered and stuttered his way through the interview with Lauren Long, a beauty who trains at CrossFit New London, where a similar interview was done.

Another beautiful Saturday to be outside getting fitter, stronger, and faster! Double Chaos, as we made the 9am class AND the 10am class Chaos. The 9am class had a lot of barbell work in it (Bear complex, Snatch Grip Deadlifts, Push Press), while the 10am class had a mix of resistance bands, body weight exercises, and a run. The first group was Pete (who stayed for the 10am class too!), Cathy, Jen T, Frank, Julia and Joe, and the 10am class was Kate M (trying out the class), Rebecca, Kyle & Jeff, Andrea K, Jen L, Ashley, and Mike.

The Saturday Morning Team Workout was a blast! Three teams of two went at it, and it was something to see. Claudine brought her husband Kevin (who so “enjoyed” it, he joined after the workout), Ryan D and Rob J, and Coach Dave S and Mike D, took on “Walk the Plank“…while one member did Weighted Step Ups onto a box, the other partner had to hold a Front Plank position; each could switch off until 100 were completed. The week started off fast and hard, with a 2 part WOD: 5 rounds of 5 Front Squats and 10 Ring Push Ups for time, then a 10 minute rest, followed by 5 one minute rounds for distance of Rowing with a one minute rest in between. Some of those caught up in the action were: Nick M, Jen T, Dean C, Tim D, Mike D (with “the Bucket” nearby just in case), Cathy B, Sonia B, Joe G, Frank B, and Delaney S. Great start to the week!

With our master webmaster off in Costa Rica looking for the cast of “Lost”, we stalled a bit on our postings, so now we are making up for lost time: on Monday, March 29th, we had a back breaker of a workout: 5 rounds of 10 Deadlifts, 10 Power Cleans, 10 Front Squats, 10 Push Jerks, and 10 Back Squats, with a 2 minute rest in between each round. Brutal. Everyone rose to the challenge, with no quitting, whining or crying (but plenty of sweating and groaning). Mike D, Matt B, Frank B, Joe G, Paul J, Justine L, Eric S, and John M featured.

The Friday WOD was tailor made for the weather: a 400m run with 20 Burpees (Yay Burpees!), then a 400m run with 15 Burpees, and a 400m run with 10 Burpees for time, a 5 minute recovery, then 75 Box Jumps for time. I was able to catch various members throughout the day; pictured are Mike R, Jess G, James M, Frank C, Tim D, and John E. Great effort on a challenging workout!

The 3/6/10 Saturday Guts Poker game was certainly a diverse group: from age 16 to 58, and all points in between. Bill J and his dad Rob J, Mike R and Mike D, Frank C, Marianne U, and Pat W turned out for a 20 minute frenzy of exercises. After all was said and done (more done than said), Bill J cleaned up with 3 Aces and a Wild Card, for a 4 Ace hand. Tough hand to beat. Nicely done Bill.

The 3/4/10 WOD was no picnic: short, hard, and intense. First, max Pull Ups, reocover, then max decline Push Ups, then recover, then a Tabata triplet: Jumping Lunges, Knees to Elbows, and Jump Squats. At the end, everyone was looking for their leg muscles, as they seemed to have vanished. 12 minutes of work that felt like 12 hours. Tried to get everyone today, but I know we missed a few.
