Larry C hit 50 today, and to celebrate, decided to hit FRAN — and knocked it out at 6:48. Claudine Z turned 35 today, and celebrated with a “Filthy Thirty-Five” (doesn’t roll off the tongue quite like “Fifty”, but it’s her birthday, so she can name it whatever she likes. Both put in impressive efforts and continue to inspire everyone around them. Happy Birthday Larry and Claudine!

The Monday (02/22/10) WOD was: five 3 minute rounds of 3 Burpees, 6 Thrusters, and 9 Box Jumps (AMRAP), with a 1 minute rest in between rounds. The morning crew hit it hard, and it hit back. John E, Rob J, Rob V, Scott L, and Steve R. The New Haven crew came in next, with Larry C joining in. Again, hard effort and bodies on the floor. Both groups put in some terrific effort – nicely done!

The morning crew was hard at it again (Larry C, Rob J, Marianne U, Rob V, and Jay B). The WOD was 20, 15, and 10 Back Squats, going up in weight and as heavy as possible on each progression. Jay was particularly impressive, as he likely does not weigh more than 170, yet (although he began his 20 at 95#), stepped up his game big time and went to 185# for his 15 and the 225# for his 10! Her-ka-lees! Her-ka-lees! (with hand clapping in between).

The morning crew ripped into another tough WOD on Tuesday, 2/9, with a 20 minute AMRAP (as many rounds as possible) of 5 pull ups, 10 air squats, and 15 double unders (or 60 singles). Tremendous effort all around. Inspiring to see people improving every week. Pictured: Larry C, Marianne U, Rob J, John E, Steve R, and Rob V.

These studs (Paul D, Rob J and his son Bill, Larry C, Mike D, Matt G, Eric B, John “The Urbanator” and Our Man Dan B) went after it, and when the dust settled, Eric and John each held Royal Flushes (any time you get a “double” — same exact card, as we use several decks — you may play the double card as a Wild card). So, we had Sudden Death: each cut to a card, with the high card winning the $9 pot [Read More] …
