Eric B, our Olympic strongman, assembled the Prowler and gave it its maiden voyage. I can attest it will challenge you. Hip and leg drive is key to moving this beast. It can be pushed from the low bar position or the horizontal posts (easier), or, thanks to Kevin E, pulled with straps. This will be the frosting on the cake of hurt.

Eric S, a 20 year old Quinnipiac University student, joined CFC in January and was barely able to do a legitimate pull up. After 4 months of regular training and working on his technique, Eric is now banging out consistent Kipping Pull ups, which certainly has helped reduce his times in WODs with pull ups in them. Great job Eric, your hard work and effort has produced tangible results!

It may have been April Fool’s Day, but the WOD was no joke….After a max rep set of Body Weight Deadlifts, we took it outside for 10 rounds of 10 KB Swings, 10 Push Ups, with a 50 meter sprint between both stations. Frank R and Kris S made the 12:30 class, then Jess G, John M and Eric S came in a little later to try their hand at it. Great to be outside again finally!

Brutal. Everyone rose to the challenge, with no quitting, whining or crying (but plenty of sweating and groaning). Mike D, Matt B, Frank B, Joe G, Paul J, Justine L, Eric S, and John M featured.

The 3/4/10 WOD was no picnic: short, hard, and intense. First, max Pull Ups, reocover, then max decline Push Ups, then recover, then a Tabata triplet: Jumping Lunges, Knees to Elbows, and Jump Squats. At the end, everyone was looking for their leg muscles, as they seemed to have vanished. 12 minutes of work that felt like 12 hours. Tried to get everyone today, but I know we missed a few. Pictured: Jess G, Vilma O, Mike D, Mark O, Matt A, Eric S, Claudine Z, and James M.

We may have to change the name of the game to Stud Poker if this continues, as all nine “player” today were guys! These studs (Paul D, Rob J and his son Bill, Larry C, Mike D, Matt G, Eric B, John “The Urbanator” and Our Man Dan B) went after it, and when the dust settled, Eric and John each held Royal Flushes (any time you get a “double” — same exact card, as we use several decks — you may play the double card as a Wild card). So, we had Sudden Death: each cut to a card, with the high card winning the $9 pot [Read More] …
