Getting Started

CrossFit Cheshire (www.crossfitcheshire.com) is an official CrossFit (www.crossfit.com) affiliate, but, unlike most CrossFit facilities, we are open all day, not just for classes. We are open six days a week and have over 4,600 square feet of training space. We have a lot of room, and a lot of equipment: over 3,600 pounds of bumper and metal plates, 15 pull up stations, 40 pairs of rubber hex York dumbbells, 26 iron kettle bells, 20 Dynamax medicine balls, 10 plyo boxes, 6 multi-press/squat racks, 6 Concept-2 rowers, 2 Olympic lifting platforms, 2 bench press stations, GHDs (Glute / Hamstring Developers), sandbags, climbing ropes, gymnastic rings, a heavy bag, jump ropes, giant tires, plus a 20 yard in-door sprint track. We also have a men’s and women’s changing room, each with its own bathroom and shower, in addition to our upstairs lounge. The lounge area has a coffee / tea maker and microwave — a great spot to relax after a workout.

Unless you have already gone through a CrossFit On Ramp or Fundamentals course at another CrossFit affiliate, you must attend the On Ramp Skills Session: three skills sessions for new CrossFitters, where the nine fundamental exercises of CrossFit are demonstrated, coached, and evaluated, followed by a workout designed to implement the new skills to help reinforce the learning process. These sessions need to be scheduled in advance and will take approximately one hour each. The cost for all 3 classes is $75; at the conclusion of your On Ramp sessions, you may then join and begin your actual membership.

For the safety of all new members, we require your first month of membership be an Unlimited Class Membership, thereafter you may switch over to an Open membership. This allows us, as trainers, to observe and correct form and technique as necessary. Classes are always led by a CrossFit Level I certified coach. We currently have a 5:30am, 6:30am, 12:30pm, and 6:00pm class Mon thru Fri and 9:00am on Sat. There is a series of warm up exercises, followed by a skill session review for whatever is in the Workout of the Day (WOD), followed by the WOD. Classes almost always conclude in an hour or less. You can take as many classes as you like, as often as you like, at whatever times they are offered, or — if more convenient that day — you can come in and workout on your own. Also, we offer CrossFit Chaos classes Tues and Thurs at 12:30 pm and 5:00pm and Sat at 10:00am; these are beginner friendly classes – try one for free (see our website for details).

There is no “sign-up” fee, “processing” fee, “cancellation” free, or any other gimmick to separate you from your money. You may pay for your membership on a month to month basis; we don’t believe in locking people into long term contracts — we want you to want to be here. That being said, some members have opted to pre-pay for one year memberships to take advantage of the cost savings (pay for 10 months and get a one year membership). Memberships are discounted 10% for Law Enforcement, Firefighters, active Military, and same household members.

There is also Personal Training available; these are 1 hour individual coaching sessions with a CrossFit Level I certified coach and a great way to learn all of the various CF exercises and Olympic lifts to jump start your progress.
