Great way to start the week! The Hamden crew, Ryan D, Rob J and the Stratton family grinded out a good one: 100 Jump Rope Singles, 80 Air Squats, 60 Wall Balls, 40 Box Jumps, and 20 Burpees into Knees to Elbows. Inspiring to see a father, mother, and daughter all training together…. encouraging, urging, pushing each other through the WOD to do their best. Now that is Quality Time.
As you can see from the video, this person in India shows the almost limitless potential of moving one’s body: full range of motion, remarkable body weight : strength ratio , flexibility, balance, speed, stamina, coordination — many of the attributes we seek in CrossFit training. Don’t be afraid to try new skills (muscle ups, hand stand push ups, rope climbs, L-sits, ankles to bar, levers, etc) when you have the opportunity. The human body is capable of tremendous things. Remember: every day at CFC, ordinary people accomplish great things.
The 10am Chaos went outdoors for the first time this year! Woo hoo! We finally got to take it outside. Threw in a couple of surprise runs to the CrossFit sign and back, along with the assorted decline pushups, KB exercises, box jumps, and what not. Great to see some of the newer members turn out for this one: Frank R, Matt A, Ashley and Paul, and Vilma O.
The 3/6/10 Saturday Guts Poker game was certainly a diverse group: from age 16 to 58, and all points in between. Bill J and his dad Rob J, Mike R and Mike D, Frank C, Marianne U, and Pat W turned out for a 20 minute frenzy of exercises. After all was said and done (more done than said), Bill J cleaned up with 3 Aces and a Wild Card, for a 4 Ace hand. Tough hand to beat. Nicely done Bill.
The 3/4/10 WOD was no picnic: short, hard, and intense. First, max Pull Ups, reocover, then max decline Push Ups, then recover, then a Tabata triplet: Jumping Lunges, Knees to Elbows, and Jump Squats. At the end, everyone was looking for their leg muscles, as they seemed to have vanished. 12 minutes of work that felt like 12 hours. Tried to get everyone today, but I know we missed a few. Pictured: Jess G, Vilma O, Mike D, Mark O, Matt A, Eric S, Claudine Z, and James M.
